Forgiveness

It was late in the evening and the last guest had left. Star was in her room rethinking everything that had happened. This was all her fault - there could have been so many different ways to avoid everything she had done. Minutes after the scene, Locket had to return to her room with Dr. Reins - it was too much for her to handle with her health. With that, Star thought it would be best to first apologize to her cousin for causing all this and possibly hurting her health.

Three guards escorted her to Locket's room. They would wait outside of the room - they knew it would be rude to walk into a lady's room, especially a princesses, without permission. Star knocked and the pony that took Locket out of the ballroom was there to open the door.

Scout: "Princess?" He looked surprised to see her, but put on a more serious face. "I'm sorry, but Princess Locket is in no condition to be having visit-" He was interrupted by a small voice deeper in the room.

Locket: "It's alright, Scout. Please allow her in, I'm sure she wishes to speak with me, alone." 

Scout looked over in the direction Locket was and nodded his head after a moment or two - obviously not too sure on allowing the two by themselves. He then opened the door wider to allow Star in.

Scout: "I will be just outside here if you need anything." He then closed the door after exiting.

Star didn't move for a moment - guilt taking over her.

Locket: "Don't tell me you're gonna make me get up to greet you?" Locket spoke with a joking edge to her voice, but it was weak. Star knew Locket needed to be resting now, but she had to apologize or it would eat away at her. She walked the short distance and sat down near her cousin, her head faced down.

Locket: "Star...?" 

Star: "I'm sorry....how I acted.....how I hurt your friends....how I -" She looked up and indicated how her cousin was now in bed, resting. "how I hurt you to make you leave the party so soon and rest." 

Locket gave a smile and lifted her arms up just slightly, Star immediately hugged her then rested her head against Locket, making sure to be gentle. 

Locket: "You are too hard on yourself, you know....that is why all this happened." Her tone was caring as she stroked the top of Star's head in a comforting manner. "Did you think I would be so upset with you?" 

Star didn't say anything. Locket was always caring and never held any grudges, but that didn't mean she still shouldn't have apologized.

Locket: "You had my forgiveness long after this party ended...but I know there are two other ponies that need this apology more than me..." Star looked up at her cousin, who had a small smile on her face. Star still needed to apologize to Mirage and Levity, but they left hours ago. She would have to make a stop at Ponyville before returning to Canterlot. That wasn't for another two days.

Star: "Thank you...." she spoke quietly.

They stayed in that same position for a bit longer, still Star knew she should be going to let her cousin rest.

Cadance is Celestia's niece, so that kinda makes Star and Locket cousins, right? Oh well! They're still family!

I know some of you wanted Locket to scream at Star, but Locket wouldn't do that. Mostly because she would just never get so angry with someone, but also because it would be bad for her health to act in such an angry way. Can she be stern? Yes, but she's more motherly and forgiving than anything else.
